Who We Are

Tarrants’ guiding principles have always included growth through people.

At Tarrants’ we believe in our people as our greatest asset. We have always kept the preparation and delivery of our services in Australia, employing local individuals from different backgrounds and experience. From 1988, Tarrants’ has employed 100’s of people to deliver services for clients.

Our principles allow us to deliver a committed service to our clients that will see those clients comply with their legal obligations. Our principles encourage our people to act as ethical professionals and as role models both within and outside of their work commitments with Tarrants.

Our History

Tarrants Accountants was started by Ross Tarrant in 1988 as a sole practitioner in Corrimal and Balgownie, NSW. His family members joined him in the business over the years. Together they grew the business providing tax and accounting services to many of the Illawarra’s small businesses and to individuals working in a myriad of industries and occupations. Over the next 30 years, 3 generations of Tarrants worked in the business accumulating over 100 years of service to the business. The business outgrew its Balgownie premises and moved to its current office in the heart of Wollongong’s CBD during 2000.

Tarrants at its height employed 70 staff across Tax and Accounting, Financial Planning and its limited legal practice. However investment clients were hurt in the fund manager Trio Capital fraud. After 10 years we believe clients compensation for these losses in not too far away.

Today, the Tarrants business still benefits from the involvement of the Tarrant family, including Ross Tarrant (Consultant), Lara Tarrant (Tax and Superannuation advisor) and Steven Tarrant (Business liaison).

Tarrants continues to provide tax, business, SMSF and accounting services to its ever expanding client base.

Tarrants is proud to be an employer of individuals of all ages and providing employment opportunities in the Illawarra for individuals with a diverse range of technical and other skills.

Tarrants, big enough to trust, small enough to care.
